CodaKid, a Scottsdale-based kids coding and game design academy, has introduced Modding for Minecraft Birthday parties at their tech academy in Old Town. Using CodaKid’s popular Code-a-thon style format, students learn Java coding while making exciting mods for Minecraft.

Each birthday group receives their own private classroom for up to 14 guests, and parents can set up birthday celebrations in the main CodaKid tech facility.

“Our birthday parties have really exploded in popularity since we introduced them earlier this fall”, said Lauren Dodge, CodaKid’s Director of Operations. “Parents love our facility as it is truly is a paradise for kids. We’ve got fun, gaming, and tech education rolled into a great birthday party package.”

Birthday participants can select from a variety of CodaKid Mods, that will both surprise and excite party goers. At the end of the session, students will be able to take their unique creation, install it into the Minecraft game, and see their code in action. Kids can then save their work and bring it home to share with their family and friends. CodaKid also has a fun gaming room called the “Boat Room” which allows party-goers to play 8-player WiiU Super Smash Bros and other popular titles.

“Parents love our facility as it is truly is a paradise for kids. We’ve got fun, gaming, and tech education rolled into a great birthday party package.”

“Coding education used to be fairly dry and boring” says Dodge, who founded CodaKid with her husband David Dodge, a former Game Designer and Software Developer. “Kids would have to learn things in a session like printing text like ‘Hello World’. CodaKid is a new breed of coding education company that uses professional grade computer programming software, and that allows kids to gain real world coding experience while having a tremendous amount of fun. We provide a one stop shop for kids birthday parties. We have top of the line equipment, a great modern tech facility, and a creative environment that kids love. What’s been great for us is that parents have been telling other parents about the experience, and kids have been telling their friends. It’s been growing by word of mouth which has been great for us”, said Dodge.

CodaKid allows parents to bring their own food, cake, and party favors, and there are a number of restaurants within a short distance of the kids coding academy to provide convenience for families.
