Your teen can learn in a live class, with a private instructor or at their own pace. 4.9 stars on Google from 374 reviews. Over 100,000 students in 120+ countries.
Teenagers do not want to drag blocks around a screen. They want to make something real: a game their friends actually play, an app that does something useful, a website with their name on it. CodaKid teen classes are built around that. They are organized around finished projects, and most use the same software a working developer would open on Monday morning.
What teens build in CodaKid classes
These are real projects from classes and camps running now.
- Arcade games built with AI (ages 13 to 17). In Modern AI Engineer 1, a live 10-week class, teens use the AI coding tool Cursor to plan, prompt and build games like a bug-squashing typing game, a battle game and a space shooter, then create their own 3D project.
- A Python toolkit that talks to the internet (ages 12 to 17). In Modern Software Engineer 1, a live 10-week class, teens build a Secret Agent Toolkit, a QR code maker, a secure password generator and a clickable Magic 8 Ball app, then pull live web data with APIs.
- A team of AI agents (ages 12 to 16). In the AI Agent Lab camp, teens build their own coding agents, each with its own job, and publish a working arcade web app to GitHub using real safety and security practices.
- Fortnite maps (ages 11 to 16). In the Fortnite Creator Camp, teens learn Unreal Editor for Fortnite (UEFN) and build parkour courses and a custom Prop Hunt game.
- 3D games and real websites (ages 12 and up). Self-paced courses cover a kart racer in Unity with C#, 3D games in Unreal Engine with Blueprints, and a first website in HTML and CSS.

Teen coding classes by interest
AI and AI-assisted coding
The fastest-changing skill for teens right now is building with AI, not just chatting with it. Modern AI Engineer 1 teaches teens to plan, prompt and debug with Cursor. The AI Agent Lab camp goes further, with teens building agents that write and ship code. See all AI classes for kids and teens.
Python and software engineering
Python is the language behind a lot of AI, data and automation work, and it reads close to plain English, which makes it a strong first typed language for teens. Start with Modern Software Engineer 1 or the self-paced Python courses.
Game development
Teens who love games can learn to make them in professional engines: Unity with C#, Unreal Engine, Roblox Studio with Lua or Fortnite’s UEFN. Game projects are a sneaky way to learn serious concepts, like physics, scoring logic and user input, because the feedback is instant.
Web development
Building websites is a skill people pay for, and it is a great first step into real code. Start with HTML and CSS in Web Development 1, then add interactivity with JavaScript.
Should teens still learn to code now that AI writes code?
Yes, and the teens who will get the most out of AI are the ones who understand the code it writes. AI tools produce code quickly, but they also produce bugs, security holes and code that almost works. Someone has to read it, test it and fix it.
That is why our teen classes teach both. Teens learn real programming, then use AI tools the way working developers do: to plan, speed up and check their work. The AI Agent Lab, for example, builds safety and security practices into the project itself.
Finished projects teens can show
Grades say a teen took a class. A finished project shows what they can do. By the end of a CodaKid class or camp, a teen can have a published Roblox game, a working website, a Python app or code on GitHub, things they can link to on an application for a summer program, an internship or college.
Research backs up learning this way. Across 30 studies and more than 12,000 students, project-based learning had a medium to large positive effect on achievement compared with traditional teaching (Chen and Yang, 2019). That research covers subjects in general, not CodaKid specifically.
Is it too late to start coding at 14, 15 or 16?
No. Teens have a head start: they can already read, type and stick with a longer project. Teen beginners can usually skip block coding and start in a typed language like Python. Our beginner courses assume no experience, and a private instructor can set the pace for a complete beginner or a teen who is already ahead.
For parents who want the bigger picture, see our guides to coding for 14-year-olds, programming courses for high school students and the parent guide to coding for kids.

What ages are CodaKid teen classes for?
Most teen classes and courses are for ages 12 to 18. Live teen classes list their own ranges: Modern Software Engineer 1 is 12 to 17 and Modern AI Engineer 1 is 13 to 17. Unity, Unreal Engine and Web Development courses start at 12.
Does my teen need coding experience?
No. Our beginner courses are made for students who have never coded, and teens usually start straight in a typed language like Python. Teens with experience can move into Unity, Unreal Engine, web development or AI tools.
Are teen classes live or self-paced?
Both. Teens can join live small-group classes, work 1-on-1 with a private instructor, or take self-paced video courses with 24/7 AI-powered learning support trained on CodaKid’s curriculum, plus scheduled support sessions with a real teacher. Camps are live and every session is recorded.
How much do teen coding classes cost?
Self-paced courses are $29 a month, or $199 a year, after a free 14-day trial. Private lessons are $249 a month for four 50-minute lessons, or $450 for eight, and the first session is free. Group class and camp prices are listed on each class.
What programming language should a teen learn first?
Python is the most common first choice because it is readable and widely used in AI and data work. Teens who want to make games often start with C# in Unity or Lua in Roblox Studio, and teens who want websites start with HTML, CSS and JavaScript.
Do CodaKid teen classes use AI tools?
Yes. Modern AI Engineer 1 uses the AI coding tool Cursor, the AI Agent Lab camp has teens build their own coding agents, and the AI Academy covers prompt engineering and AI ethics. Teens also learn the fundamentals, so they can check and fix what AI writes.
What computer does my teen need?
A desktop or laptop running Windows 10 or newer, or macOS 11 or newer, with a working microphone and webcam. CodaKid projects will not run properly on iPads or Chromebooks. The Fortnite Creator Camp needs a Windows computer.
Do teens get a certificate?
CodaKid camps include a workshop graduation certificate. More useful than any certificate is the finished project itself, which a teen can share and link to.
